Interdisciplinary - Interdepartmental Master's Program

School of Mechanical Engineering, NTUA

General Information

Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program of Studies Specializations

The Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program "Automation Systems" provides two areas of specialization:

- Area A: Construction and Production Systems.

- Area B: Automatic Control Systems and Robotics.

Graduates of Area A will specialize in Construction and Production Systems, focusing on the integration of automation and computer support for relevant processes.

Graduates of Area B will specialize in Automatic Control Systems and Robotics, emphasizing advanced robotic arrangements and sophisticated automatic control systems.

The postgraduate diploma signifies expertise in Automation Systems, distinct from and not equivalent to the Mechanical Engineer diploma or any other diploma from NTUA Schools.

Requirements and Selection Criteria

A fundamental requirement for postgraduate enrollment and specialization diploma acquisition is a solid scientific background. The Special Interdepartmental Committee (SIC) defines this background, comprising prerequisite undergraduate courses covering essential knowledge within the interdisciplinary subject area of awarding Schools. Verification of this background is accomplished through detailed previous study content and the postgraduate student's career resume, or by pre-registering for and successfully passing specified undergraduate courses designated by the SIC.

During candidate selection, the SIC considers various criteria, following recommendations by the Committee for Selection of Postgraduate Students, incorporating Article 12, para. 2a and b of Law 2083/92. Possible percentages of registrants from different source areas may also be determined. Supplementary criteria outlined by law are also considered, including:

- The rank of the degree in relation to the grades of other graduates in the same Department/School and Academic year.

- Research and/or technological activities.

- Computing knowledge.

- Recommendation letters.

- For employee candidates, organizational needs and prospects.
