Call for Expression of Interest for the Master's Degree Program for the Academic Year 2026 - 2027

1. The Schools:

- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering & Computer Engineering
- Chemical Engineering
- Mining and Metallurgical Engineering
- Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering
- Applied Mathematics and Natural Sciences

of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) offer a full-time Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program (IPP) in “Automation Systems”, in accordance with the applicable legal framework (Law 4957/2022). The 29th study cycle of the IPP will commence in October 2026. The instruction is given in English. The program is free for EU students. 2. To obtain the Diploma of Postgraduate Studies – Master of Science, students are required to attend and successfully complete 12 courses, as well as to prepare and successfully defend a Postgraduate Diploma Thesis.


3. Applicants to the IPP “Automation Systems” must hold a degree in Engineering, Applied Sciences, or a related field from a Greek university, or from an equivalent recognized institution abroad, in accordance with applicable legislation. Candidates who are expected to obtain their degree by October 2026 are also eligible to apply. Demonstrated proficiency in foreign languages is required, with particular emphasis on English.


4. The selection of students is conducted in accordance with Article 7 of the IPP Regulation, issued on 4 March 2024 (Official Government Gazette, Issue B, No. 1454). The selection criteria are as follows:

    - The grade of the degree obtained (GPA).

    - The relevance of the applicant’s undergraduate field of study to that of the IPP.

    - Academic performance in undergraduate courses relevant to the IPP’s field of study.

    - The subject of the undergraduate degree/diploma thesis, where applicable.

    - Demonstrated excellent proficiency in the English language.

    - Letters of recommendation.

Any relevant research and professional experience of the candidates will be taken into account.

The Programme Studies Committee (PSC) may invite candidates to attend a personal interview.

3. Copy of the academic transcript for applicants who have already completed their undergraduate degree). Final-year students must submit a certified provisional transcript, accompanied by a solemn declaration under Law 1599/1986, stating that they accept that any admission offer is conditional upon the successful completion and acquisition of their degree by October 2026, as well as the submission of the corresponding certified copy of the degree certificate no later than 20/10/2026.


4. Proof of proficiency in the English language.


5. A detailed curriculum vitae, including documented information on the candidate’s academic background, research and/or professional experience, and scientific publications (for which copies of the title page and abstract must be submitted).


6. Two letters of recommendation submitted electronically (instructions in the Appendix).


Note: For undergraduate or postgraduate degrees issued by non-EU institutions, legalization by the appropriate embassy or consulate is mandatory. For degrees issued by EU institutions, the Apostille procedure is required, with the exception of degrees awarded by Greek institutions.


Upon successful submission, applicants will receive an email confirming that their application has been received.

The announcement of successful candidates will be made by the end of June 2026.
